Haven't done one of these in a while!! I need to get back into the swing of things with the blog because it was fun when I was keeping up with the theme!!

Today's GP is candy bars!! I am currently hooked on 3 Musketeers for some reason lately. I like to eat the chocolate off the outside and then eat the nougat by itself. I'm like that with a lot of things: Oreos, Peppermint Patties, Peanut Butter Cups, M&Ms, anything with a coating. I don't like my food touching on my plate either HAHA!!

I just had to post this picture. This is from yesterday. Not from a few months back before rehab, or when she went insane and shaved her head. YESTERDAY. I just don't understand and I guess I never will. I mean, she is a grown woman with 2 children in the midst of a precarious divorce settlement where her behavior may dictate whether or not she will get custody of her babies or the Giant Douche will. I guess she really doesn't want those babies much. Sad.

Finally Mastered the No Bake!

The Recipe:
In a medium saucepan, combine
2 Cups Sugar
1/4 Cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup milk
6 tbsp Butter

Heat to Softball stage (240 degrees exactly), stirring constantly. Make sure your kids are dead asleep in bed. It will start to boil and froth just keep stirring!!!

Once it hits that temperature exactly, remove from heat and frantically add
1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 1/2 cups Quick Oats

Mix evenly and quickly, and then drop clumps of it onto waxed paper. Hint: Lay out the waxed paper BEFORE you start making the mixture!!!

The Ingredients

Step 1: Sugar and Cocoa

Step 2: add milk and butter

Heat and stir

Almost there!

Quick get it on the paper!!!

Phew! Perfect! And only about 8,000,000 calories each!!
But they are oh so good :)

On Yahoo.com news there was an article about an 80 year old Canadian ex-government official that was demanding that America use the alien technology that it was hiding to stop global warming.

People of course are ridiculing him as I at first did but then I watched this video (its 2 hours long but if you have time it is TOTALLY worth it) and it changed my opinion on life, God, and the future. I would say it strengthened my belief in God actually. I cannot believe that we have had the technology for over 40 YEARS to stop our dependency on fossil fuel, yet in the name of money we do not use it. We are destroying ourselves and other countries, we are at war for absolutely no good reason, and we are being lied to on a daily basis.

Alien technology or not, more than 400 people testified that we have this technology, this means of energy that does not pollute, and ways to travel without burning anything at all. What the hell is wrong with us? Why are we so greedy and stubborn and set in our ways that we will not embrace this technology?

I am really depressed at the ignorance of mankind yet feel hope for the future that that generation will be raised by my generation to be more concsious and less greedy and that the generation in the government now will die off and we can finally be at peace.

It looks much better in real life as far as color. I bought the glass cubes at Michael's along with the toggle clasp. I've been wearing it often and it is holding up well. I used a stretchy clear string that is difficult to tie off because its very slippery so I took some fishline and tied it tight around the ends and it worked! I bought some silver crimp beads for the ones I'm making for everyone else :)

Picture this:

You walk into a dimly lit room full of familiar strangers getting totally hammered. The sounds and smells bombard you as well as the people craning their neck to see who has arrived. It is as loud as a rock concert but not as exciting. This is the only opportunity for the next 10 years that you will have to stare freely at each and every person without feeling rude. First you see your Class President who had absolutely no influence on your life whatsoever. She hands you a pen and a name tag which you quickly jot your first name on and stick over your heart. Now you have to dive into the unknown sea of people who may or may not still be assholes. Thank GOD you are still as skinny as you were in High school but with more confidence! Since you have to walk sideways through the crowd that comes in rather handy! Standing in a clump near the table of finger foods which you will never touch because you are paranoid of the statistic that at least one of the 70 people probably has some sort of STD is your old gang. You are hugged, squealed at, and bombarded with questions. You scream your last 10 years over the ton of other people doing the same and whip out the only non-digital pictures of your kids you have in your possession. Then comes the question: “Where is your husband?” Uhm, I have no idea! “I’m getting divorced,” you say. They look horrified and embarrassed and uncomfortable at that statement. You rush to say, “But its ok! We get along much better now and we are still friends no big deal!” They relax and move on. That was the basic format for the first hour of the evening.

During the second hour people were much drunker and acting much crazier! We moved up to where there was some air to breathe that didn’t stink like moldy cheese and where we could get a better view. I saw my Island friends, one I ended up happy to see and the other one I decided is a bit of a pompous oaf. He was hugging everyone, male or female, and acted like he was happy to talk to me at first but then just walked away with no closure of the conversation. In high school I would have been insulted but now? Meh.

The highlight of the evening was when the girl friend I had from Freshman year had drunk 4 glasses of wine on an empty stomach suddenly clamped her hand over her mouth and started heaving!!!! One of the other girls helped her to the door to the back patio where she promptly booted into the flower bed!!!! Oh my God that was funny. Definitely made it worth the money I had to pay for everyone else to get wasted! I am SO glad I didn’t drink. I knew I wouldn’t be feeling like shit the next morning that was for sure!

We stayed almost to the bitter end. When we left it was definitely anticlimactic and without any real sense of accomplishment. Jen and I went to The Daily Planet for dinner (real food!) and I got home at quarter to one! I’m glad that she and I stayed friends all these years. I can’t say that I really missed out on the other people for the most part although there were a couple that I hope to reconnect more permanently with. All I can say is that I can’t WAIT for the 20^th!

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. - After a disabled woman’s cat started a house fire, her specially trained dog came to the rescue, then died trying unsuccessfully to rescue the cat.
Jamie Hanson said her 13-year-old dog Jesse brought her artificial leg and a phone she used to call 911.
“She got me outside and then she heard the cat upstairs and she went up there to get the cat and she wouldn’t come back to me,” Hanson, 49, said at a news conference Monday at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where she was being treated for her injuries.

She received third-degree arm burns in the fire Sunday night at her home in Rhine, south of Elkhart Lake. Both pets died.
Hanson, who lost a leg in a car accident three years ago, said she was on the couch watching television when the cat ran over the back of the couch.
“And he jumped onto a table that had a candle on it and tipped it over and lighted the artificial plants on fire,” she said.
Hanson said she fell off the couch and was unable to get her artificial leg from the table, “so my dog got my leg for me and went and got the phone and brought the phone to me so I could call 911.”

CHARLESTON, S.C.
A Charleston, South Carolina city councilman reportedly says parents who can't properly care for their kids should be sterilized.Larry Shirley tells The Post and Courier, "We pick up stray animals and spay them."

Shirley's comments come after police say a video store was held up by a group of children, including a 14-year-old girl suspected of wielding a B-B gun that looked like a pistol.

According to the paper, Shirley says "These mothers need to be spayed if they can't take care of theirs. He reportedly goes on to say, "Once they have a child and it's running the street, to let them continue to have children is totally unacceptable."

State Senator Robert Ford, a Charleston Democrat, agrees that the crime highlights a societal problem but calls Shirley's suggestion "crazy."

Ok. I know this is a very weird looking painting! Its my first oil painting attempt and it actually came out well for me having no experience in this medium!! It is a human heart obviously, and this came to me in a vision while I was pushing a cart of product down the hallway at IBM...My point is that no matter how ugly the outside is and how dark and hardened our heart gets, our soul is always pure inside of us. My metaphor for God is that he is like a huge cloud and we (our souls) are each little raindrops.

These are Ereophora (spelled wrong probably!) orb weaver spiders. They were at my family's homestead in Ryegate, VT on the front porch! I thought they were fake at first because they are HUGE! They are harmless to humans and actually catch a ton of bugs. I believe they are also found in barns. Just thought I'd creep ya out!! I've been afraid of spiders all my life and now I am trying to learn more about them and study them so I can appreciate them as one of God's creatures and not something scary and gross. We'll see how that goes!!!

I started a store on etsy.com to try and make a little money selling applique jeans and some paintings I have done. Please stop by there isn't much on there yet but I will have more listed as I get time! I Saw the Movie!!

I rented and watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. It was a really good movie but I wish I had seen it before I read the book as it left a LOT of stuff out. If they had kept it all in, however, it would have been 12 hours long!! The geisha actresses were absolutely gorgeous; especially Hatsumomo, Mameha, and Sayuri. The men were handsomer in the movie than they were in my mind from the book! I definitely recommend this movie...maybe someone will get it for me on DVD for Christmas....!!!

Sorry I've been posting so sporadically...I've been doing other things with my time like reading an actual paper book!! I read "Memoirs of a Geisha" and it is the best book I've read in a long time. I am dying to see the movie now although I hear its not quite as long as it should be in order to cover all the bases that the novel did. I'm very curious if the actors in the movie are at all similar to the ones in the book and in my head. There are so many beautiful metaphors in the book that are probably also not in the movie. Heck maybe I'll go rent it tonight!!!

The actress who plays Sayuri (the main character and narrator) is so F-ing beautiful. Her name has lots of X's and Z's in it!! I love that blue thing she is wearing in this picture...

Sorry I've been on hiatus for a while...nothing has really caught my interest and I've been busy now that its warmish out! You would think I would have actually been posting MORE because I now have an internet connection at my house! I actually have tasted this cola and let me say it was definitely kind of gross!! Metro Stylee!!!!! My favorite ska/reggae band. I adore this band and I just got a fresh copy of the cd the other day. The lyrics are amazing and the lead singer's voice is what Gwen Stefani's should have been (and almost was at the beginning!). Very high energy I definitely recommend if you like reggae/ska with a lot of horns and fast paced vibe!

Hasidic Reggae!!!!!!!!! This guy is gonna be/already is big! Someone I work with knew how much I love reggae and burned me a copy of this guy's cd a few months ago and it really is awesome! I'm not Jewish but it is nice to hear songs about spirituality and, er, Moses! Hehehe definitely check this out for some chill reggae; the music itself is phenomenal!
He even has a video coming out on MTV! I wonder if they realize its religious yet...

All these Guilty Pleasures have gotten me thinking about the cheesy computer games I played as a preteen. My friend Astrid and I would play King's Quest on her Tandy 1000 for hours! The one I remember the best is King's Quest IV, the Perils of Rosella. I look at the graphics now and can't believe I actually had to use my imagination to play this game since they are so basic! I remember Rosella as this beautiful blond princess and when I see how blocky she is I have to laugh!! Remember 16 color graphics?? VGA, SVGA, etc?? And there were like 30 disks you had to trade in and out to go to certain levels?
Leisure Suit Larry was another one she had that I didn't tell my parents I was playing...He's even funnier!!!! I think there's a version of that now for Playstation or Gamecube. I'm sure its real innocent...!!

I *love* this show. Well, I haven't seen it in a few years so maybe its one of those that if I watched it again I would think it was dumb!!! Liking this show definitely ups my geekiness factor!!! This one and Fawlty Towers, Keeping up Appearances, and the (old) Hitchhiker's Guide were among the regular things I watched when all we had were rabbit ears on the 13" TV!
Red Dwarf was a British comedy spoof on Star Trek that included a formerly cryogenically frozen human, a creature evolved from his cat, an android, and a hologram. I am not sure exactly what the point of the show was but it was smegging funny!!

Does Anyone Remember THIS Book?

This was my favorite book as a child. I used to take it out of the library every time we went. It is about a little witch, who was really a night fairy, who was stolen as a baby by night witches. She never feels like doing witchy things, which include tormenting the night fairies, and finds out that she is indeed one of them.
I looked far and wide for a copy of this book to read to my children and the only authentic copies of it run for about $50.00! And up! I found a paperback new edition of it on Amazon.com for $8.00 but I don't think it will have the same feel to it as the library copy. Of course it is a rare, out of circulation item as all the things I held dear as a child seem to be (i.e. Mr. Boogedy movie, Labyrinth until recently, The Last Unicorn until recently, etc). I guess everything I liked was weird!!!

I can't believe these cost $429.00!!!! I am working on making my own. I already experimented with appliqueing a little scene of mountains and a tree on the bottom of a pair of my jeans and it came out quite nicely. I don't like the front of these at all; I think it looks too busy and it just annoys me. Right now I am working on appliqueing clouds all over the front of a pair of beat up old Weathervane low rises (destroyed by ME not a factory!!). So far I have one leg done and it looks....interesting!!! When I finish them I'll have to take a picture and post it on here. It does take a long time to do by hand but I love needlework so I don't mind. Gives me something to keep my hands busy while I'm watching Conan!!! ;-)

Ok here is my Guilty Pleasure of the day: Conan the Adventurer Cartoon! My Mom bought me the entire series for Christmas so I've been lost in nostalgia and mysticism for the past three days! Its actually pretty scary for being a children's cartoon...I'm surprised my parents let me watch it when I was younger! I never got into Dungeons & Dragons when I was a kid but now I am kind of curious and would like to watch the show. Oh God I'm getting dorkier by the second aren't I !!! Pretty soon I'll be dressing up like a Wizard and role playing myself of the edge of the Winooski Bridge!!!

Oh my I think I am getting sick of celebrities! They are still doing the same dumb shit as ever but I really don't care anymore. Maybe because I'm broke and can't afford satellite anymore so all I ever watch on TV is Dr. Phil! (shhh I don't want anyone to know about that!) I read a good book the other day called "Timeline" by Michael Crichton, I have taken up embroidery, applique, and sewing again, and I have been in a very arts and crafts kind of mood the past few days. Pleasurable Experiences at the Movies!

I went on a date last night...with my parents! It was really sweet of them to invite me to go see Walk the Line at the last minute last night (and then buy me a Happy Meal after!). What an awesome movie. I am still thinking about it today and it is still moving me to tears! It has the same feeling as The Notebook as far as soulmate love and happy endings. That movie (the Notebook) made me cry so hard yet also gave me hope that there was true love left in the world. Walk the Line was even harder on me because it is a true story! It really piqued my interest in Johnny Cash and even June Carter, two people whom I had heard of but never really gave a second thought to. I want to see this movie again pretty badly. I won't give away what it's plotline was but I will say that if Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon don't get a ton of awards for this movie, then I will conclude that those award shows are rigged! Both of them have amazing singing voices and had the most believable chemistry (I have heard Joaquin is gay but not sure for a fact). I read a "bad" review on this movie and what they were saying was wrong with it was totally untrue. Go see this movie!!!!!

They came to Montreal's Bell Center last night and I had no one to go with so I had to skip it. I am really really really bummed. I feel like writing about music today. Celebrities are being boring lately :)
One of my favorite bands since 1997 is Acumen Nation. They are a blend of heavy industrial metal and club beats. Their sound reminds me of Ministry, Manson, and a little NIN. The lead singer, Jason Novak, has one of the coolest voices I've ever heard. When I first heard "Queener" on a mix tape a boy in college made me, I thought it was Marilyn Manson (who I was enamored of at the time). I had to special order the album Territory=Universe because I couldn't get that voice out of my head! The whole album was so awesome that I had to special order their second one, Transmissions from Eville, which is just as good as the first one if not better. Now the albums are a little easier to get, and if I'd had internet access back then in the dark ages I probably wouldn't have had to go throught the hell I did to get them! They also have a techno spinoff label called DJ? Acucrack which I like as well but its not really as satanic. Not that I'm a Satanist! But its definitely a Guilty Pleasure since it is all so evil...
